As the New Jersey Chapter of the NC A&T SU Alumni Association progresses, we are modifying and developing many of the Chapter’s By-Laws and official documentation.  Therefore, we would like to solicit feedback from you as we develop the official “Mission Statement.”

For clarity, a “Mission Statement” is defined as:

“A  formal, short, written statement of the purpose of a company or organization. The mission statement should guide the actions of the organization, spell out its overall goal, provide a sense of direction, and guide decision-making. It provides the framework or context within which the company’s strategies are formulated.”

The NJ Chapter’s Mission Statement should of course be in line with the National Association’s mission statement.  Therefore, the National Association’s Mission Statement is provided below:



SECTION I. MISSION. The mission of the Corporation shall be to encourage and promote involvement of University Alumni and other supporters by meeting the needs of Alumni and other supporters for Alumni services; creating opportunities for participation of Alumni and other supporters in the life of the University; and developing and disseminating information that communicates to Alumni, other supporters and the general public the academic excellence of North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, herein after referred to as the “University”.

SECTION II. GOAL. The goal of the Corporation shall be to provide means by which individuals and groups may join in a united effort to insure the future growth and development of the University.

In addition to those two sections, the Chapter should have a list of specific “Objectives” that tie into the “Mission” and “Goal.”  Also, a “Theme” or “Slogan” for the Chapter is something to consider as well.
